CO2 Fire Extinguisher
Qualifications of a Firefighter

In every job vacancy or opening, the company usually includes the qualifications for the applicants. In the fire department, they usually require that the person be of at least 18 years old. They too require their applicants to have a driver’s license and have not committed any major offense for a certain number of years. Aside from the aforementioned, they too would sometimes include that the person should have some CO2 fire extinguisher training before he applies.

In addition, they too would ask him questions about the fire regulations and other related things. They too would have to pass a series of tests as well as interviews. It does not necessarily mean that you know all the answers you would get the job. Remember that you are not the only person vying for the position. You should be able to show the staff and the department that you have what it takes to be on their side. It is not enough that you pass the theoretical side. You still have the physical one to prove yourself worthy of it.

Aside from familiarizing one’s self with the fire safety equipment, some fire departments make sure that the applicants or the candidates know the city very well. This would help the firefighters get to the destination faster. In addition to these things, once they hire the person to be a part of the team, he would still undergo training and certifications just like the others. Credibility is one of the focuses when being a firefighter. You have to make sure that you know what you are doing. There is a line between you think you know it and you really know it.

The firefighters would have to distinguish the fire extinguishers also. They must know the difference of a car fire extinguisher from an automatic fire extinguisher. More so, they too have to understand what a Class A fire is, Class B and the likes. These things may seem unimportant but for these public safety officers, it is. They could not just use one extinguisher to put out the fire that started with a different cause. Actually, even civilians have to take note of this because they are the ones at risk here.

In the fire department, the firefighters have to memorize every detail there is. They have to know where the fire extinguisher cabinets are, where their uniforms are and the likes because it would save them precious time when someone needs their help. In every fire, the firefighters have to move quickly to prevent the flames from destroying even more property. They too have to make sure that they get everyone out of the building in the fastest way that they can. These firefighters risk their lives just to save the lives of others. Even though they may not get much appreciation from the community at times, at least they know that they did their part to make their area a safer place to live. This is something they can be proud.
